Because no two businesses are the same, BabelFix doesn't really have much off-the-peg software to offer. In fact most everything BabelFix has ever done has been tailor made.

We design and build custom systems from the ground up, developing the right logistics infrastructure and software for the individuals who'll actually be using it. And because bespoke systems fit like a glove, reflecting existing user logic and specifically designed to be very familiar, little or no training is necessary.

For us that generally means two things:

• Start from scratch every time. No templates.
• Nothing re-cycled. Nothing's ever merely 'standard'.

Apart from the core database engine (frequently FileMaker© Pro), absolutely everything else is individually created - and unless generics are specified, that'll include everything from the buttons to the background. But - and this is the most important thing - the solution's logic will be unique and every single line of code specially written with a considered purpose. This is harder and may take longer but it is the equivalent of having something hand made, especially for you, instead of mass produced in a factory.

We choose to work this way because even if two organisations had exactly the same business, for certain they'd each do it differently.

And for a solution to operate in that special way, reflecting the very best working practices and processes an individual organisation has spent a good deal of time getting right, then simply adjusting an existing solution probably won't work out perfectly. Compromises nearly always lead to regret.

It's like you go out to buy a suit. The only ones on the rack that you really like cost lots and don't come in your size. You could have one altered to fit better. But the fact is, there's probably a craftsman tailor in a little place in Soho who could actually make the perfect suit for you, hand cutting it from the fabric of your choice with exactly the styling you need. He'll stitch it the old way and make it fit like a glove; you'll look and feel great, have total freedom of movement and the suit will last a lifetime. And should you ever want a little adjustment, he can do it so no one will ever know...
