BabelFix can create all kinds of networks from simple peer-to-peer sharing through to local mixed platform, remote and even Virtual Private networks. We can network remote sites to a central hub, provide integrated internet connections, fire walls, virus protection, e-mail, faxing, printing, central document management & backup and even remote disaster recovery measures. Actually, just about everything.

But we need to own up about something. Networks are actually dead easy. Bit of planning, bit of cable, a couple of boxes, minute or two on the software - and it's done.

But only if you burn the right candles in the right place, the moon is in the right quarter, you have worn the right colour undergarment, odd socks, eaten garlic the preceding Tuesday, poured libations to the right masters and, in serious emergencies only, know which small white furry creature to sacrifice and how. Ask anyone who has ever tried doing it - this is the stuff they don't print in the manuals.

BabelFix regret the need to charge for such services, but clients will understand that networks are only worth having if they work: Taking the necessary measures to ensure that actual operation will, in fact, meet expectation takes time and training.

Seriously, we take it seriously and we won't get involved in designing a network unless there are sensible resources. A day or two later, the whole expensive mess can fall apart for the sake of one lousy 5p component, so we'll tend to specify the 10p one instead. Same thing with routers - there's always a cheaper option - but will it be good value in the long term (or even the short term)?

If commissioned, for an initial fee and following detailed discussions, we'll provide a detailed evaluation of current client needs, together with sensible planning for the future. Once agreed, we'll specify equipment, price it and obtain estimates for specialist cabling by trusted third party suppliers, and negotiate with them for the best true value. We'll then present a fully justified detailed specification and quotation together with any options as originally agreed or appropriate.

That initial fee will be redeemable against acceptance of our quotation.
