Simple Solutions Database Development

Database Web Enablement

Just about any database can be published on the World Wide Web.

Some, like FileMaker Pro™, can be put up there moderately easily. Others, like Oracle, OpenBase, Postgres, MySQL and SQL Server may take a deal more knowledge and expertise.

But to achieve really effective display, navigation and possible manipulation of complex data takes a certain amount of knowledge - and depending on their structure and how they were designed it can take time to fully prepare files for the web.

Integrating the data into purpose built web pages can be more effective when specialised coding languages, such as CDML, LDML, PHP, ASP, JSP, PERL and XML are deployed. In some cases, third party coding tools like Lasso™ can add a degree of structured steamlining to the process. And there are others too, like Dreamweaver and ColdFusion that can help with creating database web code and CGI stuff.

All you need is to know when and how to use them effectively and when, where and how to strip out redundant auto-created code. Which is why some geeky programmers bypass the 'toys' and just use BBEdit... (but they are few and too clever to considered normal).

Here at BabelFix we offer consulting and programming services to prepare and take existing databases to the web - we also design and implement databases for the web from scratch.
